How Does 3D Printing Work?

Have you ever heard of 3D printing? This advanced technology can help create custom items for work or home, and can bring your dreams and visions to life with precision. In today’s blog, HWB Prints discuss how this process works, and how we can help create your unique designs and bring them to life in an affordable manner.

Getting Started

How do you get started? Well, you can go two routes. If you know how to use programs like CAD, you can design the product yourself and bring it to us. We can then use this to design your creation. If you’re unfamiliar with this design program but still have an idea you’d like to see brought to life, then you simply talk to our team about designing this for you, creating a unique CAD file that reflects your vision. Even if you have no experience with 3D printing, we can help you!

Our Materials and Print Sizes

We use PETG and PLA filaments to print your creation. These are versatile and lightweight, able to create items large and smile that are surprisingly durable. They also come in a number of different colors that you can choose from, although you can also paint your item yourself afterward. Our print area can accommodate creations 300mm (11.82in) x 300mm (11.82in) with a height of 400mm (15.75in). However, if your item doesn’t fit within this area, we could discuss creating it in pieces that can be assembled later, so you can still create larger items. People often do this when they create cosplay armor or larger tools or pieces of art. Honestly, the only real limit is your imagination!

Possible Uses at Home and Work

We’ve helped our clients create items that can be used at home or at work. For example, we’ve crafted custom chess pieces, statuettes, figurines, and toys. We’ve crafted household items like racks or shelving pieces that fit within uniquely shaped cabinets and drawers at home, and also crafted custom art pieces that can be displayed too. The technology also enables us to create tools, jigs, and even the same multitools used by astronauts! We’ve even helped businesses create affordable prototypes to put their inventions to the test without sinking tons of money into metal fabrication.
